Ta-dah! The Lotus Moon Tiles Afghan

Hi everyone!

Today is going to be mostly pictures... because I've finished the Lotus Moon Tiles Afghan by Polly Plum! Made using all Stylecraft Special DK (as a stashbuster), it has 24 lotus flowers, and finished up at 100 x 150cm. All the yarn colours are over on my Ravelry project page.

The pattern was so well written and introduced me to more new stitches and techniques. It's made up of octagons...

... squares...

... and triangles.

Kiah and I took it down to the riverside this afternoon to take some pretty pictures! And, well... I think the pictures speak for themselves <3 I love sunset for crochet photos!

Such a glorious bundle of rainbows!

    1. I think you're about the 10th person to say that - it must be a sign! I'll need to hunt down some wool blend yarn in amazing colours - any suggestions?

    2. Hahaha! Sometimes when I go looking for a particular colour, I cannot find it. It is usually a case of the right yarn, wrong colour or perfect colours, wrong yarn for the project. Sometimes the best combinations and designs spring from random circumstance. That is why I am hesitant to suggest a colour combination, plus colour is such a personal decision. Go with your heart and instincts. I love the colours of your first blanket. They sparkle.

What criteria do you use when choosing colours? If it is a home decor item for particular people, I try to complement their choices in their home. If it is a garment, I try to choose colours that go with other things the person has worn or, if for me, choose the colours that I am needing to add to the wardrobe or a particular outfit. Sometimes there is intuition and sometimes pure practicality. I need to have some good feeling towards the colours though to remain motivated by the project. Does this help at all?? Clear as mud? Have fun with it, Michelle, and do keep us posted. I like to find out how others make these decisions too.

Have a colourful day! :-) xx

    3. Clear as sparkling water! :) I hardly ever use wool or wool blend yarn because the fibre makes me itchy, so I don't know what brands have good and varied colour ranges. I chose all of these colours out of my stash (which is why the flowers are different colours, I didn't have enough of any one colour sequence to make all 24) and tried for bright flowers, a range of green leaves, and deep water blues :)
