Advent Meditation Part I

Hello Hello!

The first part of the Advent Meditation is here! We are sooo excited about it and can't wait to hear how you like it! General information about the idea can be found here

For the first pattern, you need about 20 grams of DK yarn (we use Stylecraft Classique Cotton), a 4mm crochet hook, scissors and a yarn needle.

It is a very easy pattern, however you need to know how to crochet sc, dc and ch stitches. The pattern begins with a magic circle. We simply adore that technique but if you can't do a magic circle (yet), you can also crochet 4ch and close them to a circle. When you finished the pattern, remember to sew in all the ends securely!

Remember to take your time, don't be afraid to pause or rewind if you need to, and above all don't get stressed about it - this is meant to be a relaxing, mindful, creative activity.

You can listen to the podcast via Youtube. The video can be found here

Please post pictures of your finished coasters on our Facebook page or on instagram (hashtag #cbwadvent)! We can't wait to see them. :) We do ask you however to wait for 1-2 days til you post pictures, so others will have the moment of surprise too! Thank you :)

Feel free to ask us questions, we will try to reply as soon as possible. Please note that we are doing this for free in our spare time for you to enjoy, that is please be kind and give us the time needed.

Should you find a mistake (we hope there are none, but we are only human after all), please message them to us directly. If needed, we will have an errata list here.

Enjoy and happy first Advent Sunday!!

Take care
Michelle & Anne

  3. Can you use any yarn or does it have to be cotton?

    1. You can use any yarn but if you use cotton the coaster will be sturdy enough and sit flat. If you use other yarn you might need to block it 😊

  4. Sadly Google Drive is telling me too many people have listened or downloaded the file so I should try again in 24 hours. :-( Probably best not to advise people to listen directly from Google Drive but to download their own local copy. That should help your bandwidth.

    1. Please don't be disappointed! It has turned out to be way more popular than we thought, and our limited resources (we are just two people on other sides of the world) are struggling to keep up with demand :) We are working on another solution at the moment and will post here and on Facebook as soon as it is available!

    3. Hi! We have now uploaded the podcast to Youtube as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq75NPMw_9A

We have also uploaded it several more time to the file sharing site and I have added a mini tutorial to the blog post on how to download it. I recommend adding a ad blocker to your browser as that will avoid the popups. :)

  8. YouTube worked for me, and this was very fun to do. I’m much slower than your testers, though. Had to pause after each set of instructions for a side.

    1. I'm glad YouTube worked for you! Don't be worried about speed, it is definitely not a race :) I'm glad you were comfortable pausing when you needed to!

  9. Made the first one a couple of days ago. Great fun. I'm using a no10 mercerised cotton and it works well, but must check my tension. The coaster is more of a small motif that can be joined into a bigger object. thank you.

    1. Thank you Anna, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :) How big did it come out for you? I haven't made one in size 10 cotton yet.
