Kirchentag and new Sari Yarn

Hi there!

How are you doing? I am on holidays since yesterday and man, it feels good. The last couple of weeks were great but also very exhausting.

Last week/weekend I was down in Stuttgart for the Protestant Church day. The Church Day is a huge event with over 100 000 people being there, tons of shows, talks and also full of market stalls where different organisations present themselves. I was there for my work. We had a great stall and an awesome team which made the whole thing a lot of fun. As you can see, Mr. Alienbunny also took the chance to head down to Southern Germany!

The weather was amazing: Over 30 degrees and blue sky. Unfortunately it also meant that the huge tents where the stalls were located heated up really fast. Hot and humid... Not my favorite thing really.

It was nice for the evenings though, when one could spent the time outside in temperatures above 20 degrees. I met with my cousin who lives in Stuttgart. Good times! We went to see a concent of the Wise Guys and it was fabulous! The Wise Guys are a rather famous acapella band with very funny but also very intelligent songs. Check them out! :)

I managed to sequze some crochet in but "unfortunatly" most of my current works are gifts. As some of the people who shall receive one of the gifts, may read this blog, I can't show you yet...

Some weeks ago I saw a wonderful shawl made with Sari Yarn. I couldn't resist and ordered some from India. I was surprised that it arrived just five days later (that said I am still waiting for a yarn delievery from the Netherlands which should have been here three weeks ago!). Working with it can be pretty hard but I think I got the hand of it now. The black yarn is Drops Big Merino - so soffftt! As I need to use both yarns at the same time they sometimes tangle but I shall conquer :P

Drops had a wonderful 35 % off sale going on for the last month. Of couuurrsse I had to take advantage of it. Lots of black, red, orange and yellow for some bonfire beanies. I wrote the pattern up but I need to take more pictures before it can be published. Hopefully I can get it done next week during my holiday time!

I hope you all have a wonderful and sunny weekend!

Take care
Anne

The Love Story of Mr Alienbunny and Ms Long-Ear

Today I bring to you the magical lovvvee story of Mr Alienbunny and Ms Long-Ear. Grab a cup and tea, some biscuits and enjoy!

The Love Story of Mr Alienbunny and Ms Long-Ear

Mr Alienbunny lived in a town named Koblenz, an old town built by the Romans. He had a very good life among the wine hills and enjoyed life a lot. However, he also felt... empty. He wasn't sure what he was missing at all, so he started his journey to fill the emptiness.

He tried to enjoy the smell of the first spring flowers but it didn't help. He still felt empty.

He went out for drinks with his mate Mr Giraffe from Australia. They had a very good time but the next morning Mr Alienbunny still felt empty inside. Oh and he had a terrible hangover. Poor little one.

One day, he heard of two wise owls, so he went to see him. They had a very long talk together and the two owls told him of their love for each other and suggested that Mr Alienbunny longed for love.

At home, Mr Alienbunny spent a long time thinking about love which he only knew from the movies. After some days, he decided he had to look for love! He said goodbye to his friends, packed his bags and started his journey in his Lego Mini Cooper.

It was a very long and hard journey. He met lots of nice people but no love.

That is, until he arrived in Dortmund, a town in the middle of Germany. There he saw HER! In the middle of a field of roses... She was soo beautiful! But would she like him?!

He waited until she left the field of roses and started to talk to her. Her name was Ms Long-Ear and she was very lovely indeed! Native to Dortmund, she told him all about the town.

They agreed to meet again the next day and Ms Long-Ear was delighted by the flower Mr Alienbunny got for her.

For hours they talked... and fell in love!

After some weeks together, they decided to pack their bags into Mr Alienbunny's car and travel the world. So far they are having a really good time! Should you meet them, have a glass of wine with them - I am sure they will love to talk to you and tell you their story in person!

The End!

Another Blanket and an Alien Bunny

Happy Saturday!

I hope all had a good week filled with beautiful moments! :-) My day always gets even better when i see a new comment. Thank you so much for taking the time!! It means a lot.

On Monday, my grand-mum for whom I am currently making a blanket fell and got a fracture of the femoral neck. As she is 94 years, this wasn't good news (not that such a fracture is good news ever). The doctors evaluated the options and decided that surgery would be the way to go. Unfortunatly my grand-mum was also in the middle of a gout flare. Thus during surgery they also had to remove parts of her fingers so the flare wouldn't interfere. Woah. No easy surgery and we weren't sure she would make it.

So we waited all Tuesday... and we got lucky. She got through the surgery and is doing better than expected. What a relief!! So much of a relief that I finished her blanket in extra speed!

I really hope she will like it! The green relates to the green in my late grand-dad's blanket. It is a lap blanket and thus not huge but a good size. I could have made a larger one but she asked for a lap sized one. Hopefully it will do her good during her recovery (and afterwards).

This week a girl from work bought a whole bunch of labels for handmade works from the internet. She was really kind and gifted me three of them to sew onto my blankets! :) I was so happy! It will look great on the blanket for my granny, don't you think?

After all the blanket work, I felt like it was time for something else... I like making Amigurmi but I was eyeing this Bunny Pattern from AllAboutAmi for month.

Uh, when I placed the eyes, I placed them too low and too far apart. As those are safety eyes, I can't change it. Oh well, looks like my lil' bunny is becoming an alien bunny! We have to love all crochet creations after all, don't we? :D I am thinking about adding some green alien stuff and and an antenna... What do you reckon?

Wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Take care
Anne
