Ta-dah! Corner to Corner Rainbow Throw!

Hello all!

I finally (!!) finished my corner to corner rainbow throw. I showed you some snippets of it here and actually finished the first version around the same time. Unfortunatly, I made a HUGE mistake...

Somewhere in the middle I decreased too much which resulted in an ugly bend on one side. I was so upset I didn't even take pictures of it... Some people said, one wouldn't notice but trust me: I would!

And soooo... I undid 48 rows of 16 different colours... I could have cried!

After that, the blanket stayed in a box for some weeks until I go back to it about 3 weeks ago. Now that it's finished (and man, there were tons of little end to be sewn in), I am really happy I undid part of the first version.

What do you think?

It's so cuddly and lives permanently on our couch.

Blanket Date:

Colours used: 17 (Lucy Pack). 3 Rows of each colour 4 times!

I used the colors in the following order:

Meadow
Aspen
Spring Green
Sherbert
Cloud Blue
Turqouise
Aster
Lavendle
Wisteria
Clematis
Fondant
Magneta
Plum
Pomgrantw
Lipstick
Shrimp
Saffron

Take care

  1. I LOVE your colour scheme. It always pays to undo mistakes but I can relate to the desire to just put it away and not look at if for a while after such a major frogging effort. I had a similar situation with a project and I couldn't bear to think about it for months! Do you think it is a form of mourning for the project that could have been? I am glad that you returned to finish this beautiful blanket. The results speak for themselves. Congratulations.

  3. Hi Anne, thanks for your comments on my blog. Love your throw! I learned a smattering of German a couple of years ago as I was running the Saltzburg marathon which was wonderful.

    1. Hi Karen! I started with meadow! Do you want the whole colour sequence? I can work it out and post it here if you like :-) I spent quite some time deciding on putting the colours into order. In the end my bf helped me...

    2. Thank you so much Anne :) I received my pack today and only ordered it the day before yesterday. Excited is an understatement and I can't get over the gorgeous organza bag it all came in :) I think I can work out the colour sequence from the photo, but if I get stuck I'll let you know. Thank you so much again for your help and inspiration:) xx

  6. I'm half way through mine now Anne :) Did you have to buy any more yarn or was there enough in the pack? xx

    1. Nope, one pack was enough. I even had left overs. I used each colour four times. Next time I would make it a bit bigger though. The current blanket I just finished on also used stylecraft special dk and it a lot bigger. It is 80 rows wide and 120 rows high. Perfect size for a couch blanket (for one person). I used about 6,25 balls of each colour (two colours in total). So with your 17 balls you should be able to make a even larger blanket. :-)

    2. Thank you so much for your reply Anne, I'm loving making this but finding it's getting a bit heavy to work with on my knee, but as it's getting colder here in the UK it's perfect for keeping me warm as I'm making it :) xx

  7. Hi,
Love your blanket. Found it on pinterest, as a beginner I was wondering if changing colour is easy to do, also can you tell me the colour sequence you used?
    Thanks

    1. Hello!

Good to see you here :)

The color change isn't too hard. I usually join the new color in the last stitch of the old color. But you can also bind of the old color and simply join the new one. I usually don't do the later as I don't like the knots but it is a way!

I don't have the color sequence written up, but if you send me your email-address, I can post you a close up picture, so you can figure out the color order. :)

    2. I was able to zoom in by using computer. Will be using this for my own rainbow blanket.
      Thanks.

  8. The Red Heart/Mikey pattern is good but doesn't tell how to change colors on the decrease half. I used the first color thru the slip stitching (decrease) and then changed to the new color. It seemed to come out well.
