Thank you for all your lovely comments and ideas for hippo names on my last post - once we know that she's coming home from the Easter Show, the little candy Happypotamus will be christened General Millie, and we will see if she'll accept the Captain as her boyfriend/husband and become a Poprocks. Stay tuned!
We love reading each and every one of your comments, on here and on Facebook and Instagram :)
It was Part 8 of the Sophie's Universe CAL this week - only 7 rows, but they are getting pretty big!! We seem to be making a big flower along the "short" sides (which are now longer than the "long sides"!), and a crazy busy garden along the "long" sides. I got to learn two new stitches as well - puff stitch and cable stitch! I liked the puff stitch, less excited about the cable stitch.
Mum and I joined Lunchtime Crochet Club at Crows Nest with Nicole and Kathryn last Friday :) We had a lovely time eating possibly the best fish and chips I've ever had, and working on our Sophies.
Now for the sneak peek :P As you know I've been working on another pixel blanket pattern following the Rainbow Twist and Turn Bargello Afghan. Hopefully I will have it all finished by Easter so you can put the Rainbow Hearts Afghan into your Ravelry queue for a Mothers Day project!!
The chart is done!
The yarns are ready and waiting! My favourite Stylecraft Special DK of course!
I wanted to do something new for you though, so this afternoon I had a fiddle around with making a tiny heart granny square! What do you think?
Can't believe how beautiful it's turning out to be! : ) Love your cute granny heart too, it's oh so cute! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Valentina! I think I fall more in love with the colours every time I look at it :)
DeleteHa,the heart square is so cute! And your Sophie is beyond words. Simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea! I had way too much fun with (and spent way too much brain energy on) the mini granny heart square :)

ReplyDeleteThank you Géraldine! I love the colours SO much!
DeleteI love your color choices. This is by far my favourite Sophie I've seen so far!
ReplyDeleteWow thank you Darrah!!
DeleteWow! Your Sophie CAL is spectacular and you have been so busy! Good luck with your preparations for the Royal Easter Show. Do you ever worry about your work getting lost or damaged at the show? Sometimes I see things displayed at the shows with little regard for the items such as being stretched or stapled etc, I hope your work is cared for properly when it is submitted. It deserves to be displayed properly. I can't wait to see both your Sophie and colour pixel blanket complete. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jodie! Eep, I hadn't even thought about those things - I guess I just hand them over and then see what happens... I'll post about it on Friday this week :) And then there's an exhibition night in a few weeks that I'm hoping to go to, to see if they've even displayed my work!!
DeleteGood luck Michelle! I am certain that something as complex, colourful and spectacular as your Sophie blanket will command the judges' attention and be very worthy of display.
DeleteIt's an exciting prospect. Have fun and be inspired. :-)
Unfortunately there isn't a category for this Sophie in the Sydney Royal Easter Show - afghans need to be made of wool or wool blend (my stylecraft is all acrylic) and "crochet art" (the section that I've entered my Rainbow Bargello in) has to be all my own design! I might end up splashing out for wool blend and doing another Sophie for the afghan section next year :)
DeleteThe Royal Adelaide also stipulates that the entry be made of wool which is fitting for an agricultural show as they are trying to show off the results of the produce whether it be food or fibres. I made a project which I thought would be worthy of an entry years ago but my skills were still new and not up to scratch. I decided later to make another and purchased the materials which were in an acrylic and then I came across the same dilemma you found yourself in. Never mind, there is always another show next year! I hope you go well regardless and find the experience valuable and fun.
DeleteOh that little heart square is adorable! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Elsie! The pattern is now up at http://crochetbetweentwoworlds.blogspot.de/2015/04/pattern-mini-heart-square-tutorial.html :) xx
